Curing Insomnia2Many people around the world experience the odd night of sleeplessness that does not necessarily ruin their day. On the other hand if this odd night turns into a number of nights with no sleep which becomes a pattern then I am afraid you are facing a sleeping problem.
There are varying degrees of insomnia, the fist being where you have difficulty actually falling asleep. This is termed as initial insomnia. The second is occurs after you fall asleep. Here you have difficulty staying asleep and you really never reach a deep sleep state. This is known as middle insomnia. Then there is insomnia whereby you wake up after few hours and fail to return to sleep. You can often do this early in the morning. This is considered to be late insomnia. When it comes to insomnia there may be many variables such as it being a symptom of certain medical conditions. That is why it is wise to consult with a medical professional first. If it is a symptom of a medical condition then the cause can be treated. However if your sleeplessness is due to a pattern of not sleeping, or having difficulty relaxing then there may be some simple things you can do to get a good nights sleep. So what little things can you do to help cure insomnia? The old adage that a warm glass of milk may not be too far from the truth according to some. Milk contains a certain chemical that when heated is released. The chemical is tryptophan and is known for its relaxing qualities. Not to mention, everyone could use extra calcium. A cup of warm, herbal tea could also help. Certain herbs help calm and soothe while the scents from them can have quite a relaxing effect. Herbal tea can be found at any grocery store and even come in blends labeled for sleep or relaxation. If your rushing mind is what keeps you awake counting sleep, meditation could work for you. Simply clearing your mind could give you the peace to let you fall asleep. Imagining yourself in a calm place could be all you need. Some of your daily activities could be the reason you can't sleep at night. Drinking caffeine too close to bed could keep your body awake longer into the night. Eating too soon before bed could cause you indigestion that will awake you during the night, making falling back asleep to be harder and take longer.
