Insomnia Solution
Studies show that millions of people worldwide suffer from insomnia, regularly. For many, insomnia is a chronic and debilitating condition that not only prevents them from sleeping at night, but in turn mars optimal functioning during daylight hours.
Developing good sleep habits is the key to insomnia solutions. If you are having trouble sleeping at night, study your sleeping and waking patterns. It's important that you sleep and wake up at roughly the same times every day. And to stress the point, it's especially important that you sleep at the same time every day. Why?
People consistently force themselves to wake up at fixed times for work or school, or other responsibilities. They use alarms as a backup for their internal clocks to make sure they're on time, no matter what. If they're used to getting up at six o'clock, it doesn't matter that they slept at three in the morning the night before - they'll still be up at six o'clock that day.
The problem is that people allow themselves to sleep at three in the morning. Deadlines and responsibilities often make staying up seem necessary, but consider the consequences. You wake up at a regular time but get to bed haphazardly: your biological clock knows when to wake up, but it's confused about when to shut off. Staying up odd hours of the night confounds your body, so that even when you are exhausted at night, you still can't fall asleep, and when you wake up in the morning, you feel sleep-deprived.
So make sure sleeping and waking up at regular times is the first step in your search for an insomnia solution. Sleep cycles take roughly two weeks for bodies to adjust to, and switching cycles often will not work; instead, be persistent. Wake up early even on weekends, and resist the urge to sleep in. And sleep despite pressures to stay awake, taking comfort in the thought that you'll be awake early and refreshed the next day, and ready to get your work done. |
